Child Protection Policy
Howick Baptist Church is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people involved in our church programmes.
Accordingly, child protection and good working practices around young people are critical components to the activities and ministries of the church.
We recognise that anyone may have the potential to abuse children in some way. Therefore all reasonable steps are taken to ensure that nominated teachers, leaders and helpers operate in safe and transparent ways around children, with inappropriate or unsuitable people not being involved with children and young people.
Howick Baptist Church:
recognises that child protection is everyone’s responsibility
is committed to providing a safe physical environment
is committed to nurturing, protecting and safeguarding children and young people
exercises care in the appointment of all those working with children and young people in the church
is committed to supporting, training and resourcing those who work with children and young people and provide regular supervision
will not tolerate incidents of child abuse: whether they be physical, emotional, sexual or incidents of neglect. This includes abuse by staff/volunteers or abuse disclosed by a child to our staff
will notify and work with appropriate agencies in the event of reported abuse
